Chose the right social channel for your business
Right now Facebook and Instagram are at an ultimate high for user engagement, leading most businesses to choose to opt-in on using these social channels. However, for your company, you need to make sure how a social channel will promote your business and what consumers are on those channels that could turn into buyers.
For instance, if you are looking to connect with executives in a large manufacturing company they will most likely be unreachable through Facebook and Instagram but you might be able to market to them through LinkedIn.
Making sure the social channel you choose for your business is key to making sure you see a return in your social media marketing investment.
2. Analyze your competitors
Make sure you are informed about what your competitor is doing online. Check to see what social channels they are on, the content they are publishing or how frequently they post. This, in turn, can lead you to have a clearer roadmap to what operations online you might consider or what you should improve from their errors.
3. Complete your profiles
When creating your social media accounts for your business make sure you are filling out all the information they are asking you. Have a phone number, email, address and much more for consumers to access your service or product information.
The saying “less is more” truly does not apply to social media. More information is always an advantage online. You want to make sure your information is up-to-date so consumers are never lost online trying to connect with you.
4. Be consistent with your brand
Being consistent when launching your brand on social media channels is crucial. Your company wants to make sure all social channels are aligned with the same missions and values your business embodies. Your photos need to match your descriptions and your bio needs to match your overall brand image.
For example; if a law firm is known for its professional characteristics they should have all content based around this brand perception. You should not see silly images or captions when you associate with this brand.
5. Share engaging content
Once your business has established the social media channels they should be on and their brand image they now should publish engaging content. This content needs to be relevant to your service or product but should also link with current trends to allure users to your page.
Make sure you post content that makes users want to engage with your content such as; contests, direct messaging users, asking them questions in the description of your post etc.
6. Connect with influencers and industry leaders
By connecting with influencers or industry leaders will allow you to grow your social following tremendously. Instead of networking in business meetings, network with other companies online. Merge different businesses for special promotions or host events that promote each company. Doing this allows exposure of your social media channels to increase 2x higher then if you were to promote online.
7. Use hashtags
When using hashtags you optimize your posts and expose your content to a wide range of users in your niche. To make sure you are reaching consumers in your target market you need to use relevant hashtags. When using a hashtag that is well known or broad allows your content to be lost in the social media feed.
For example; Your business is a fitness club and you have published content relating to a spring open house- the hashtags you could use to target relevant customers would be one that is linked to locations surrounding that fitness club and fitness trends in that area such as; #torontofitnessclub #torontofitness #fitnesslover #weightlighter etc.
8. Utilize paid advertising
All social media channels have a strict algorithm you have to abide by. One of the ways in which you can beat this algorithm is through paid advertising. These social media channels favour accounts that use paid ads as opposed to ones who do not. Meaning your reach can increase by 10x for as little as $5 a day by using paid ads.
9. Engage with your audience
Social media is meant to be social, so make sure you’re engaging with your users. The most successful social media channels and companies are ones in which they are constantly reaching out to their followers. Make sure you are commenting on posts people have published or liked. Like other industries content and leave comments to discuss. By doing this your name begins to populate at a higher frequency them most- leading to a higher rate of growth in your social media channels.
